Cameron Sawyer is far from the drift-about that has stepped into a vacationing bartender’s place for a few weeks. He’s never lied, but he certainly has not elaborated, given details or told the entire story of the why he’s traveling around the country as he is. There is a mystery to Sawyer, and he brings the potential for danger to any woman he gets involved with. He’s tried to consider Ella Grace as simply a fling, a fun time while in Marietta but the truth is… she matters, more than he ever thought possible.
It’s always a treat to return to Marietta, Montana, catch up with old friends and make some new ones. I completely enjoyed my time with Ella and Sawyer. They make a believable couple, even with their seemingly differences they fit together, and those are the couples that grab hold of my reading heart fast. There is one scene toward the ending of the story where we get the real first indication of what the Great Wedding Giveaway is all about (without giving away spoilers) that simply cemented this couple as one that I would happily read their story again. If the desire is there to re-read a book, then it’s truly touched my heart.
This series appeared a few years ago, so if you haven’t read the series or haven’t discovered what a great author Kelly Hunter is, then this is one for the reading list. I believe you’ll be captured enough to want to seek out the rest of the series. Just because a story is a few years old doesn’t mean that it isn’t a fantastic read. Give What A Bride Wants a shot, I think you’ll enjoy it.

In What a Bride Wants by Kelly Hunter, despite, or maybe because of, the family wealth, Ella works on the family ranch with her father. Her mother died years ago so it's just been Ella and her father, who has decided it's time Ella settled down and found a husband. Ella would like nothing more to find her true love, but so far she has found no one who sees beyond the family wealth to Ella.
Until Sawyer. Perceived as the local drifter, there is a lot more to Sawyer than what meets the eye. What begins as a lark between Ella and her father to find a husband for her, soon morphs into something much more meaningful when Ella gets together with Sawyer. The sizzle is hot, the attraction immediate, and soon the two of them are getting to know each other very well. Both of them are falling hard for each other
Sawyer's family has a skeleton in their closet though, and it's one of the reasons he has been afraid to commit, afraid to love anyone. Will this time prove differently though? When all is out in the open and needs dealt with, will Sawyer and Ella's new relationship survive it?
I loved this novella by Kelly Hunter! Written with a perfect infusion of romance, humor, and a little suspense, Kelly draws you in to Ella and Sawyer's story and makes you hope they will have a happily ever after. The characters are strong and the feelings are real. Ella is strong, independent and she likes to be in control. Sawyer could be the perfect match for her...especially once she gets below the surface. Sawyer is open, he's not offering a lot of information up about himself and his past, but he's not hiding it either. He too wants acceptance for who he is, not what he has or what he's come from. The chemistry between the two of them is great and they have a lot of fun together.
I'd recommend What a Bride Wants to any romance reader looking for a fast paced, fun, love at first sight romance.

This is the first in a series of a bride series from a group of very talented author's in my opinion. This was my first book of Kelly Hunter's that I have read. And I must say that I was impressed with her writing, and I truly loved reading this novella. It's funny, it will make you laugh, but it's the spark that draws you in, to the point that I myself, read it from cover to cover I just could not put it down. I love the fact that the character's are not your average type you think you will find in a love story. Take Ella Grace Emerson she is smart, beautiful, but unique in the fact that she is sassy, she knows what she wants her life to be, and she has no problem letting her father Samuel T. Emerson know just that when she discovers he has taken an ad out in the local paper, looking for a suitable [docile] husband for her. He just wants his daughter to be happy and to him that means marriage.
When Ella is out with her friend at the local saloon, and is the only one in town who knows nothing about the ad, she soon learns of it, and decides she's going to put her father in his place. So, instead of posting an ad, she hangs an ad on the bulletin board at the saloon, [for the perfect lover] right next to her father's ad. Ella wants love, but she wants real passion type love, and not a marriage due to her father's wealth. Newcomer Cam Sawyer has taken a temporary job at the saloon, and after a little ribbing from Mardie the waitress, Sawyer puts up a response to Ella's ad. And, this is when the story of Ella and Sawyer takes off, it is funny, sassy, almost magical the chemistry these two have immediately from the start. Ella has never met anyone that makes her feel the way Sawyer does. You will love reading this book. I only hope that we will see more of these character's in future book's of Miss Hunter's.
